How do I get involved?

We have many working tasks and other events throughout the year – our calendar has all the details.

All you need to bring is sturdy boots or shoes and wear old clothes appropriate for the weather and task. If you are going to stay all day please bring a packed lunch, we can provide tea, coffee, orange squash and biscuits.

Am I the right person to join?

Yes, anybody over the age of 16 is welcome. You do not have to be strong or have any previous experience. You will quickly develop new skills and practical ability, as well as increasing your knowledge of nature, discovering more about the local area and making new friends.

Why should I join you?

We help nature and improve the environment around Solihull. You can learn new skills and increase your knowledge of nature and conservation.

Joining us will provide an opportunity to see interesting parts of Solihull you may not have seen before. You will meet new people and have fun as well as getting exercise in the fresh air.

Did you know you can use your work as a volunteer with Solihull Conservation Volunteers to add to your CV for university or employment applications and also as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme?

Does it make a difference?

In more than 30 years of working in Solihull we have:

• Turned poor and neglected woodland areas into wildlife havens with access available to all.
• Cleared out a number of ponds and planted marginal plants.
• Carried out the re-laying of overgrown hedges to preserve them and improve their wildlife benefit.
• Performed pond clearance and wetland management, hedgelaying and meadow management, pathwork, fencing, sleeper bridges and stile construction.
